Albert originally practiced law in his home town of Edmonton, Alberta, where he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Alberta in 1983.
In April of 1988 he became an Ontario lawyer and joined the Bay Street, Toronto law firm of Gardiner, Blumberg as a commercial litigator (business trial lawyer). In over 13 years with that firm he handled a wide variety of sophisticated litigation matters, including for example:
- shareholder and partnership disputes
- breach of contract
- non-competition and non-solicitation
- real estate litigation (mortgages, misrepresentation, etc.)
- bankruptcy and insolvency
- fiduciary duties
- injunctions and Anton Piller Orders, and
- appeals.
Albert is a prize-winning public speaker, a published photographer, and a writer on legal issues.
Albert has been interviewed on Report on Business Television (ROB Tv).
Albert taught Civil Litigation at the Bar Admission Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada for a number of years.
Albert is the President of the Toronto-area branch of the
Alumni and Friends of the Faculty of Law Association of the
University of Alberta.
Albert was elected President of the Rotary Club of
Toronto—Forest Hill for 2007—2008.
