DOING BUSINESS IN TENNESSEE
Cross-Border Workshop

On April 2, 2009, the Canadian Office of the State of Tennessee and the Ontario Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada hosted a breakfast cross-border workshop in Windsor, Ontario. The workshop, "Doing Business In Tennessee", featured a knowledgeable panel including: Jonathan Rodwin, a Partner with Kavinoky Cook LLP, a U.S. law firm with offices in Ontario, Jerry Hynes, Vice President of Fifth Third Bank and Robert Bathgate, Director of the Canadian Office of the State of Tennessee.

Robert Bathgate discussed potential business opportunities available to Canadian businesses looking to expand operations into the Southern United States and pointed out that over 77 Canadian companies had found Tennessee to be a profitable experience. Jerry Hynes discussed taxation and financing issues while Jonathan Rodwin addressed legal issues pertaining to Visa requirements and incorporation involved in a U.S. expansion.

The event was well-attended by representatives of the local business communities of Windsor and Chatham from various industries including manufacturing, finance and real estate. The event was co-sponsored by Kavinoky Cook LLP and Fifth Third Bank.
