Piedmont-Triad Partnership Roundtable Breakfast

On January 30, 2008, the Piedmont-Triad Partnership of North Carolina, together with AmCham Canada and Fogler, Rubinoff LLP, hosted an Economic Development Roundtable Breakfast at the offices of Fogler, Rubinoff LLP in downtown Toronto. Business people representing various industries in the Greater Toronto Area were in attendance. This was a very popular event. Attendance was at full capacity. Excellent presentations were made by Russ Sawchuk, Director, North Carolina Canadian Office, and Heather Sauls, VP, Client Development for the Piedmont Triad Partnership. They presented exciting facts about the Piedmont Triad region explaining that more than half the U.S. population and most major markets are within 650 miles of the region, the region enjoys below national average cost of living, the Piedmont Trial International Airport is the site of the planned FedEx Mid-Atlantic Hub which is currently under construction targeted to be operational by spring 2009 and companies that call the Piedmont Triad Region home include, Dell, Inc., Thomas Built Busses, Honda Jet, Honda Equipment, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Procter & Gamble, Liberty Hardware, Sealy, Volvo Trucks, Syngenta, Banner Pharmacaps Inc., Lowes Foods and TransTech Pharma Inc..

Following the presentations, each audience member was given a unique opportunity to introduce themselves and speak briefly about their businesses. The event was both productive and informative. All attendees had an excellent opportunity to learn about North Carolina's Piedmont-Triad region and make effective contacts.
